The Shave for the Brave is taking over!
Posted on Jan 08, 2010

The Shave for the Brave is taking over both our office and the country!
The picture above illustrates the growth of our largest fundraising event in pledge sheets. Many of our event participants have begun to raise their funds online since we made this option available, however, there are always those who find it easiest to collect money in person and thus bring in their physical pledge forms when they check-in the day of the event. You can see how these physical contributions have grown steadily since the event's inception in 2006!
We thought this was a cool picture, not only because it's a visual measure of the Shave's success, but also because this year we are opening up the Shave for the Brave to the entire country! (I guess this means we'll need a lot more office space to store pledge sheets.)
In the past, Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) has unofficially welcomed individual and group Shaves of all sorts and sizes in different parts of the country, but for the first time, this year, we're inviting any and all interested schools/businesses/individuals to organize and participate in Shaves in their home towns. Sign up to receive regular Shave for the Brave News updates and stay in the loop!
Of course, the annual St. John's event will still be taking place (March 6 at the Avalon Mall) so if that's the event for you, we can't wait to see you there! Other planned community Shaves include one in Corner Brook and one in Calgary--so far. we know there will be even more to add to the list in the coming weeks!
