Shave for the Brave News
Holy Trinity High holds an emotional event
Posted on Apr 22, 2011

Holy Trinity High in Torbay, NL held an awesome Shave for the Brave on April 15, 2011 where 43 Shavers raised around $8,000!
Their mascot walked throughout the crowd and even got in on the action by Shaving a participant. Substitute teacher Tommy Connors said he would shave if the crowd could raise $500 right there and then. After $540 was collected, he shaved his head AND his beard!
Brother and Sister Alex and Jennifer Dunphy Shaved together, and Alex even presented Jennifer with a bouquet of flowers when she was sitting in the chair.
Michael Steckley had been growing out his hair for three years in order to donate it for the Shave for the Brave. His efforts were on behalf of his father, so he knew first-hand how difficult it is for a person to go through a cancer diagnosis.
The boisterous, amazing Michele Manning was a member of the community who wasn't directly involved with the school, but wanted to participate in their Shave in support of her sister who had recently had a tumor removed. Michele said, "I’m not a doctor and I can’t do anything to help. But this, I can do."
She was also presented with a bouquet of flowers.
Thank you so much to the students and staff of Holy Trinity High School, and everyone who supported them, especially the Town of Torbay who always steps up to help Young Adult Cancer Canada. It's wonderful to see such a connected, compassionate community and we're lucky to have you on our side.
