Shave for the Brave News
When it’s time to Shave, it’s time to Shave
Posted on Apr 04, 2011

Tom Healey of Gander, NL arranged to Shave for the Brave at a free throw competition at St. Paul's Intermediate School on March 26. The competition was cancelled because of another snow storm (it only seems to snow on Shave days!) but Tom was determined and Shaved at home anyway.
"My three children, Brandon, Daniel, and Madison, were very happy to help me shed the hair, passing the clippers back and forth. 40 minutes later, I was hairless. It was truly a family event as my wife took pictures while the kids shaved and laughed and laughed some more. I am so glad that I participated in this event year and I thank YACC for providing the support for young adults living with cancer. Bravo!"
While we're at it, Bravo to Tom for raising $2,574 on his own! His fundraising page says he signed up to honour his mother who died during her own cancer battle a little over a year ago. While we are saddened to hear of yet another life lost, we hope Tom's mother would be proud to have inspired such an incredible deed.
Thank you, Tom, and the Healey family, for everything you've done to make this Shave a success.
