Glenmore Christian Academy in Calgary, Alberta held their 2nd Annual Shave for the Brave on March 4, 2011 and raised over $30,000 ($32,000 so far) and Shaved 52 heads!
Two exceptional students, Bryce Jerrom and Ryan Pietersma, were placed third and fourth on the Shave for the Brave leaderboard on the day of their Shave.
Bryce's dad, Curtis, had this to say about his son, "I might be a little biased but I see how he interacts with people and it is quite amazing how compassionate he really is...He has been a real blessing to us and his three younger sisters. I could definitely go on about him, as could his teachers and others that have been around him."
Curtis says Bryce's generosity knows no bounds, a remarkable quality that has been with the third-grader since he was a toddler. He would give away his brand-new Hot Wheels cars to kids at the park when they didn't have any, even when he knew his parents weren't going to buy him new ones.
Ryan's mom, Patti, was another proud parent that day.
She said, "It went great! REALLY noisy; my ears were ringing when I left! There was lots of cheering going on; I can't believe how many kids got their heads shaved today! So awesome!"
Thank you to Ryan and Bryce and their families, and to all the other students who participated in the Shave for the Brave and their supporters. We hope to see you all again next year!
