Shave for the Brave News
Memorial University students “become” bald
Posted on Feb 16, 2011

Memorial University strives to be a place where people and ideas to "become." Become what exactly is up to them, as long as there is growth and improvement, the university is doing good work.
Today, 36 university students became bald in support of young adults with cancer in Canada and raised $10,949!
The Shave was originally scheduled for last week on February 9 to coincide with the kick off to Winter Carnival. A winter storm delayed the opening of the university and the Shave had to be rescheduled. For Winter Carnival, residence houses would get points for each student who Shaved. The Carnival is now over and midterms are in session so we weren't sure how many people would follow through if it wouldn't help their house win.
We are happy to say Memorial University pulled through. The future is bright if these young people continue to be so generous and kind.
Thank you to Kristina Roche for organizing (and reorganizing) this event!
