Holy Spirit High School, the 2008 Bravest School, was lucky enough to hold the first Shave of 2011 after Memorial University in Newfoundland had to postpone their Shave when a snowstorm delayed the opening of the campus.

On February 11, over 49 Shavers (including one teacher) got up on stage in front of the student body and Shaved their heads and cut their hair. $5450.77 was raised between registration and last-minute donations collected in a bucket throughout the audience.

When we left to go to the school that morning, we thought there were about 30 Shavers. By the time we were done, our extra toques were gone and we were two shy! People were inspired by their peers and quickly collected money, called their parents for permission, and sat down to lose their hair on a whim!

This Shave saw the hockey team losing their mohawks, a young couple going bald together, a girl shaving her legs for the first time since November (with some assistance from the day's MCs), and a few great braids to go toward making wigs.

Thank you to the students and staff at Holy Spirit High for stepping up, getting this Shave season rolling, and making one great donation to Young Adult Cancer Canada!

Balding is not sexy. Being bald is! Think Jason Statham, not Jason Alexander!
