Background

The annual Shave for the Brave was launched in St. John's in 2006 and has been growing exponentially ever since. It started in schools around town and has now spread to schools, offices, and communities around the country.

The Shave has an average annual growth of 65 per cent in Newfoundland so it was no surprise our 2011 community event at the Avalon Mall was our biggest and baldest yet. Over 400 people lined up to get their heads shaved and hair cut. Many offices got together to go bald (your shiny dome is a lot less noticeable when everyone else does it!), schools were swarmed with yellow toques, and many individuals took the initiative to lose their locks on their own time.

Thank you to the many of you who have shaved your heads, donated braids, organized events, and helped spread the word. Your support helps us bring young adult cancer survivors in Canada together for support, information, and inspiration.

We're looking forward to seeing you all in the spring!

Everyone wants to touch a bald head. Shave and watch them come running!
