Donor Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Shaver?
A Shaver is anyone who shaves their head with an electric razor with no guard, or donates 10 inches of hair.
What is a Head Hunter?
A Head Hunter (aka shave organizer) is any motivated individual (teacher, student, employer, employee, etc.) who takes on the task of delivering a Shave for the Brave at their school, office, or in their community.
What is a Mane Mama?
A Mane Mama is anyone who wants to spread the word about the Shave but cannot commit to losing their hair or organizing an event. They promote the event by wearing a Mane Mama badge proudly, answering any questions that arise, using their badge as a profile picture and reposting info on Facebook and Twitter, and spreading the word however possible.
When is the Shave?
The community events are happening on or around March 10, 2012 but people will be organizing Shaves all over the country when timing is best for them.
Will I get a tax receipt?
Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more, and are available by request for anything under $20.
If you have provided an email address, we will issue your tax reciept through email unless otherwise requested.
To make it even easier to get your reciept, donate to your Shaver online. It will be automatically generated so you won't have to wait for us to manually issue one.
Where can I send my cheque?
Cheques should be made payable to Young Adult Cancer Canada and can be mailed to:

Where does the money go?
All funds raised during the Shave for the Brave go directly toward supporting our programs for young adult cancer survivors. Localife, Retreat Yourself, and the annual Survivor Conference give young adult cancer survivors a safe place to go and talk to other young cancer survivors and supporters about the things they bottle up. Programs like We Get It; Touch Yourself, Trust Yourself; and Goaltender provide information, guidance, and support so a young adult’s cancer journey can be a little less difficult.
Donations allow us to offer these programs at no cost to the young adults who truly need them.
